China has decided to make it easier for people from Shenzhen to visit Hong Kong. Starting on December 1, they can enter Hong Kong multiple times a year with a special visa. Each visit will be for up to seven days, and the visa will be valid for one year. This is a big change from 2015, when China limited visits to just once a week to stop people from making many trips to buy things at lower prices and then resell them in mainland China.
The new rules are good news for businesses in Hong Kong, especially those in tourism, shopping, and restaurants, as more visitors are expected to come. Hong Kong’s leader, John Lee, has also suggested other ways to attract more visitors and improve the city’s economy.
In addition, China is easing travel rules for people living in Zhuhai, a city near Shenzhen. Starting January 1, residents of Zhuhai can visit Macao once a week for up to seven days, which is a big improvement from the old rule that allowed them to visit only once every two months. These changes are designed to help boost tourism and support local businesses.
