In the house of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, something amazing and emotional just happened. Two housemates, AZ Martinez and her partner River Joseph, worked super hard and became the winners of a very special challenge called the Charity Task.
Because they won, they now get to donate ₱100,000 to a group called the Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation Inc. That’s a group that helps people who are fighting cancer.
But this win wasn’t just about money or a prize.
They Did It for Their Dads
AZ and River both lost their fathers—AZ’s dad passed away because of liver cirrhosis, and River’s dad passed away due to cancer. That’s why this win meant so much to both of them. They wanted to help others in honor of their dads.
📺 In the episode that aired Friday night, we saw them win the challenge by building the tallest tower using balls, ball stackers, and something called a panungkit (a stick used to reach things). It wasn’t easy, but they worked together as a team and never gave up.
🎤 Back in the confession room, they couldn’t hide their joy.
AZ said with a smile,
“I’m just happy we did it. I’m just happy that we became a blessing to others, Kuya.”
River, who was smiling too but holding back tears, said,
“This is my first time winning a task in PBB. But I’m glad it wasn’t for me—it was for something bigger. I know our dads were with us during that challenge. They helped us because they knew how many people we can help with this.”
💔 When Big Brother (Kuya) asked River what his dad would feel if he were still alive, River got very emotional.
“I think he’d be proud, Kuya. My dad was so generous. I always say I want to be like him. He’s my hero. If he were alive, I know he’d be smiling knowing we can help so many people.”
AZ’s Tribute to Her Dad
AZ also shared how her dad used to help people even when their own family was going through hard times.
“My dad taught me to always help others—even if we didn’t have much. He believed in being a blessing no matter what. That’s also what my mom taught me. If you’re blessed, share that blessing. If you’re feeling down, still be kind to others.”
❤️ Their win was more than just a victory. It was a heartwarming tribute to two amazing fathers who taught their kids to care for others.
