UNVEILED: ‘764’ – An Online Group Targeting Kids with Danger

Tragedy in Tacloban: The Dark Influence of Online Extremism

In a heart-wrenching event that has shaken Tacloban City, a tragic shooting incident at a high school claimed the lives of three innocent students. As the dust settles and the community grapples with this unimaginable loss, a disturbing connection has emerged: the incident may be linked to an online extremist group known as “764.”

A Bleak Influence

Senator Risa Hontiveros raised the alarm, revealing that this group is suspected of being part of a network steeped in nihilistic and violent extremism. It’s alarming to note that the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. has marked “764” as a national security threat, while the Canadian government has classified it as a terrorist organization.

Founded by a Discord user named Bradley Cadenhead in 2021, “764” has roots tied to yet another horrific online community. This one, known as “Cvlt,” was notorious for coercing children into performing sexual acts on camera for the vile practice of sextortion.

A Disturbing Origin Story

Cadenhead’s fascination with violence began alarmingly early—at just 10 years old, he was drawn to online content depicting murder and torture. His journey into darkness took a further turn when he met someone in the gaming world of Minecraft, leading to the creation of “764.”

This group not only spreads nefarious ideals but also promotes various forms of violence among young individuals. Reports indicate that they encourage acts such as animal torture, incest, rape, self-harm, and even bestiality. The methods used to instigate harm are deeply troubling; victims are coerced into self-injury, forced drug use, and even harming beloved pets.

A Nihilistic Agenda

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a U.S.-based anti-hate organization, highlights the disturbing worldview of “764.” Their ideology is steeped in nihilism and misanthropy—they reject moral norms and perceive no value in human life. This mindset is deeply unsettling, especially knowing that they target vulnerable kids in popular online environments like Roblox and Minecraft.

Discord has become a favored platform for these activities, thanks to its numerous existing communities. “764” capitalizes on these networks, seeking out unsuspecting victims. Recruiters lure children with tempting in-game rewards or feigned romantic interests, making it all too easy to coax them into sharing sensitive information.

A Community in Shock

Even before the recent shooting, concerns were escalating surrounding online gaming platforms like Roblox, with accusations of recruiting minors for illegal activities. In April, the Department of Information and Communications Technology hinted at stricter regulations, especially with Roblox’s commitment to improving child safety.

Meanwhile, Cadenhead has been apprehended and is currently serving an 80-year prison sentence in Texas. For many, this tragedy highlights the urgent need for vigilance and intervention in the digital spaces where children play, learn, and unknowingly expose themselves to threats.

A Call to Action

As we reflect on the devastation in Tacloban, it’s crucial that we come together as a community—parents, educators, and lawmakers—to better protect our children. The pain of losing young lives to senseless violence is unbearable, and we must act decisively to ensure that online spaces are safe and nurturing, rather than breeding grounds for darkness.

Let us honor the memories of those lost by advocating for change and fostering awareness of these dangers lurking online. Together, we can work towards a brighter future, one that safeguards the innocence of our children.
