The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has dismissed a petition to disqualify the Tulfo family members running in the 2025 midterm elections. The case, filed by lawyer Virgilio Garcia, lacked key documents, including copies of the candidates’ certificates of candidacy (CoCs), which are required for verification.
Comelec’s First Division, led by Commissioner Aimee Ferolino, ruled that the petition did not meet the necessary legal requirements. Without the CoCs, it was impossible to confirm the details of the complaint or even if the Tulfo family had been properly notified.
The decision cited Comelec Resolution 11046, which mandates strict compliance with procedural rules. Since the petition failed to meet these requirements, Comelec had no choice but to dismiss it.
With this ruling, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo can continue his senatorial campaign, alongside Ben Tulfo, who is also running for senator. Rep. Jocelyn Pua-Tulfo and her son, Quezon City 2nd District Rep. Ralph Wendel Tulfo, remain in the race, as does Wanda Tulfo-Teo, first nominee of the Turismo party-list.
The Tulfo family remains a strong force in the upcoming elections, and their supporters can expect to see them on the ballot come May 12!
