KALAHI-CIDSS: 17,000+ Benefit from Cash-for-Work Program!

Empowering Lives: DSWD’s KALAHI-CIDSS Program Surpasses Expectations

In a heartwarming testament to the power of community support and resilience, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has reported that its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program has successfully provided an astonishing ₱143.22 million in assistance to 17,243 individuals. This leap in progress is particularly remarkable when considering that it has already exceeded the program’s 2026 target—just as we approach the end of August 2023.

A Continuous Commitment

“We’re just getting started,” shares DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao with palpable enthusiasm. “Our mission to provide additional income for our beneficiaries is ongoing, and we are expanding KALAHI-CIDSS—especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).”

These words signal not just a commitment, but a heartfelt promise to uplift the most vulnerable segments of our society. It’s a promise rooted deeply in the belief that every individual deserves support.

Supporting Those in Need

At the heart of this initiative is the cash-for-work program, which has become a lifeline for many. It offers substantial benefits to not only persons with disabilities and their caregivers but also to students and graduates from higher education institutions.

The mechanics are straightforward: beneficiaries receive cash assistance that is equivalent to their local regional daily minimum wage in return for their participation in work that lasts anywhere from 10 to 25 days.

Transforming Lives

The impact is significant. Imagine 7,389 persons with disabilities and 8,215 college students and graduates stepping into newfound opportunities. It’s not just a number; these are lives being transformed, families finding hope, and communities rekindling their spirit.

Moreover, Project TheraFee plays a vital role by recognizing the invaluable work of caregivers. Through this initiative, 1,639 caregivers and guardians have received financial support, affirming that their essential care is not just valued, but recognized as real work.

A Future of Hope

This isn’t just about figures or programs; it’s about real lives—individuals filled with hopes and dreams—finding the support they need to thrive. As DSWD continues its mission, there’s an unmistakable sense of hope resonating within the communities they serve.

We invite you to witness this journey—where assistance meets resilience, and the commitment to uplift continues to flourish. Together, we can celebrate these achievements and look forward to a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone involved.

In the tapestry of life, every thread counts, and each of these stories reminds us: when we come together, we can create a world of possibilities.
