The Philippine National Police on Saturday said they would invite persons of interest in the shooting of a journalist who was with his family in Quezon City.

“Ito ay dine-develop na namin, may mga taong ipinatatawag at kukuhanan ng statement,” said Quezon City Police District Director Police Brigadier General Nicholas Torre III in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(We are already developing this, we will be summoning people to get their statements.)

Torre added they had obtained additional CCTV footage showing the whereabouts of the suspects before the incident.

Torre said authorities already have information on who might be behind the shooting of Remate Online photographer Joshua Abiad, who was with his family when the gunmen shot their vehicle along Corumi Street, Corner Gazan Street at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

A man wearing a black jacket got off the car and started firing shots and fled. A motorcycle rider was also seen serving as a lookout.

Abiad was immediately brought to the hospital and is now safe.

“Nangyari na ang nangyari, siguradong alam niyo kung ano ang pinaggagagawa niyo. Come clean. Buti walang namatay pero napakalubha ng nangyari sa mga bata. Maybe this will be a life in prison for you, sa mga gumawa. I know that you know what you did,” Torre said.

(What happened has already happened, I’m sure you know what you did. Thank goodness that nobody died in the incident, but the children were traumatized.) — DVM, GMA Integrated News
