Iran Cuts Ties with UN Nuclear Watchdog

Big news is coming from the country of Iran, and it’s got the world watching closely!

On Wednesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially signed a new law that says Iran will no longer cooperate with the UN’s nuclear watchdog group, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

❌ Why Did Iran Do This?

Iran is angry at the IAEA and says it is being unfair. Iran believes the IAEA is taking the side of Western countries, like the United States, and even helping to justify recent airstrikes by Israel.

These airstrikes started just one day after the IAEA said Iran broke the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty — a global agreement that tries to stop the spread of nuclear weapons.

Iran didn’t like this and responded by passing a new law.

📜 What Does the New Law Say?

From now on, if the UN wants to check Iran’s nuclear facilities, they can’t just show up.

They must get special permission from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the country’s most powerful group in charge of national safety.

This means less oversight, and other countries are getting nervous.

🕵️‍♂️ What Did the IAEA Say?

The IAEA said it knows about Iran’s new law but is still waiting for an official explanation.

“We are aware of these reports. The IAEA is awaiting further official information from Iran,” the group said in a statement.

Right now, it’s like a big game of “wait and see.”

💣 Meanwhile, Iran Says Nuclear Site Was Bombed!

In a separate interview, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said something shocking — that the U.S. bombed one of Iran’s most important nuclear facilities, the Fordow site.

He said the attack caused serious and heavy damage to the building.

If this is true, it’s another big reason Iran is pushing back and refusing to let the UN check their nuclear projects.

🤔 What Happens Next?

This situation is full of tension, and many countries are worried. Iran has nuclear power, and some fear that without inspections, they might be hiding something.

With trust broken and both sides blaming each other, the world is now asking:

What is Iran really planning — and will this lead to more conflict?
