A shocking discovery of an unexploded World War 2 bomb caused massive travel disruptions in Paris on Friday. The bomb was found just 2.5 km from the Gare du Nord station—one of the busiest in the world—forcing train services, including the Eurostar, to shut down.
What Happened?
🚧 Construction workers in Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris, found the bomb around 3:30 a.m. while digging near train tracks.
💣 The bomb was sitting in the middle of the tracks, stopping train traffic.
🚆 Trains to London, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany were affected.
How Bad Is the Disruption?
📢 The Eurostar canceled all trains to and from Gare du Nord, leaving travelers stranded.
🛑 The H Line, one of the train lines, said service would remain halted until bomb experts safely remove the explosive.
⏳ Officials expect the delays to last at least the entire day.
Passengers in Panic!
🚉 With 220 million travelers using Gare du Nord yearly, thousands scrambled for alternate routes.
😟 One traveler, Clemence Fandard, had her train to Amsterdam canceled after an initial 45-minute delay.
😫 Another passenger, Kasman Ibrahimi, had to find a different way to Germany after his train to Cologne was affected.
Experts are now working to safely remove the bomb before trains can resume. Until then, travelers are urged to reschedule or find alternative routes!
