📍Boston – A big drama is unfolding between U.S. President Donald Trump and Harvard University, one of the oldest and richest schools in America. But now, things might be calming down—Trump says a “HISTORIC” deal could be announced within the next week!
🇺🇸 Why Is Trump Fighting Harvard?
Trump and his team cut off billions of dollars in government money that used to go to Harvard. They also tried to stop international students (students from other countries) from studying there.
Why? The Trump administration said Harvard was:
-
Not doing enough to stop bullying and hate speech, especially against Jewish people (antisemitism),
-
And possibly not following rules on how it uses government money.
💬 What Did Trump Say?
On his own social media site called Truth Social, Trump posted this:
“We might make a deal with Harvard very soon. If we do, it will be a mind-bogglingly HISTORIC moment that’s good for our country.”
He also said that the people from Harvard are now cooperating well during the talks and seem serious about doing what’s right.
⚖️ What’s Happening in Court?
While all this is happening, a federal judge in Boston just stopped Trump’s team from instantly kicking out international students. The judge said the government must follow a proper process, which could take months.
Harvard said this was a big win and thanked the judge for protecting students.
🏛️ Harvard’s Side of the Story
Harvard is not just sitting back. They’ve already filed two lawsuits against Trump’s administration. They are demanding:
-
To unfreeze $2.5 billion in funds,
-
And to keep international students at the university.
Harvard believes Trump is punishing them unfairly because:
-
They refused to follow Trump’s demands about what to teach and how to run the school,
-
And they claim this violates their freedom of speech, a right protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
🌍 Why Does This Matter?
Harvard isn’t just any school — it’s a top university where many smart students from around the world go to study. In fact, about 1 in every 4 students at Harvard is from another country!
If Trump’s actions succeed, many of those students could be forced to leave the U.S. or never be allowed to study at Harvard at all.
🧨 What’s Next?
The judge is also expected to decide soon if she will continue blocking Trump’s new rule that bans foreign students from entering the U.S. to study at Harvard.
Meanwhile, the whole country is watching, wondering:
-
Will there be a peaceful deal?
-
Or will this turn into a bigger legal war?
Stay tuned — this story is far from over!
