The Curse is Real!’ Secret Siargao Eats & Beach Bars to Try

Siargao is a beautiful island in the Philippines, famous for its waves and surfing. People who visit often say there’s a special “Siargao curse” — once you come, you’ll want to return again and again!

Getting to Siargao is easier now because of a small airline called Sunlight Air. They fly every day from Clark Airport and Cebu, so lots of people can visit this fun island.

A Cozy Place to Stay: Katig

One of the best places to stay on Siargao is called Katig. It’s a big, cozy place with 11 rooms where visitors can relax and have fun. The owners want it to feel like home, so you can meet other travelers and feel part of a family.

Charles, one of the people who helped start Katig, said there aren’t enough affordable hotels near the beach. Some places are really expensive, so they made Katig to be a comfortable and cheaper option right on the beach. Waking up to the sun and jumping into the waves is what many visitors love the most!

Kim, another co-owner, explained that the weather on Siargao can be wild. Sometimes the strong wind and rain start right after new buildings are finished! So, they made sure Katig is built strong and will still look nice even after many years.

Yummy Filipino Food at Kanin Baboy

Just a few steps from Katig is a restaurant called Kanin Baboy. They serve tasty Filipino dishes like spicy lechon belly (crispy pork) and other classic meals. The owner, Kim, got the idea from a trip to Bali, Indonesia, where she loved eating rice and pork dishes.

She named the restaurant “Kanin Baboy,” which means “Rice and Pork,” and even added some fun jokes to make people smile when they visit.

Cool New Beach Bar: Loka

Near the famous Cloud 9 surf spot, there’s a new bar called Loka. They teamed up with a local brand called Gwapitos, which is all about surfing and skateboarding.

Angela from Loka said they wanted to create special T-shirts, hats, and towels that show off both brands. It’s a fun way for people to remember their time in Siargao and support local businesses.

A Secret Spot for Fancy Food: Alma Siargao

If you want something a little fancier, Alma Siargao is a hidden restaurant that serves Spanish and Mediterranean food. Chef Luis said he picked a secret location so people can have quiet, special dinners, maybe even a date night!

It’s casual but elegant, meaning you can relax but also dress nicely if you want.

A Fun Filipino Feast: Boodle Fight at Dako

One of the coolest food experiences in Siargao is called a boodle fight. It’s when lots of food is placed together on a big table, and everyone eats with their hands! Chef Choipao, a famous local chef, makes beautiful food displays that even spell out words with fresh fish, mangoes, and grilled meats.

You’ll find tasty dishes like Kinilaw (fresh fish salad), Adobong Pusit (squid stew), and Inihaw na Baboy (grilled pork). It’s perfect for sharing with friends and taking fun photos to remember your trip.

So if you’re thinking of going to Siargao, get ready for amazing food, cozy places to stay, cool bars, and unforgettable beach adventures. And watch out — the Siargao curse just might make you want to come back again!
