Plane Ticket Prices May Drop This June — Here’s Why

If your family is planning to go on a trip in June, here’s some happy news — plane tickets might cost less next month! That’s because the people in charge of flights in the Philippines just said that the fuel surcharge will go down.

Now you might ask, “What’s a fuel surcharge?” Let me explain!

When planes fly, they need a special kind of fuel, like a car needs gas. But sometimes, this fuel becomes very expensive. So, airlines charge a fuel fee (called a surcharge) to help cover those costs. It’s an extra amount added to your plane ticket price — like an add-on.

But here’s the good part — the Civil Aeronautics Board (or CAB, kind of like the airplane police for prices) just decided to make that fuel fee smaller starting June 1 until June 30, 2025.

What Does This Mean for You?

➡️ If you fly to another place in the Philippines (like Manila to Cebu), you’ll only need to pay ₱80 to ₱300 extra for the fuel fee.

➡️ If you’re flying to another country from the Philippines, the extra fee will be between ₱273.36 and ₱2,032.54, depending on how far you’re going.

Last month, the fees were a bit higher — from ₱117 to ₱342 for flights inside the country and ₱385.70 to ₱2,867.82 for international ones. So yes, this is a price drop!

What Do the Airlines Say?

Big airlines like Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Philippines are super happy about this. They say it means they can offer cheaper tickets to more people and open more travel routes, especially from places like Clark, Iloilo, Cebu, and Davao — not just Manila.

The boss at Cebu Pacific, Mr. Xander Lao, said:

“We want more people to enjoy travel without spending too much. That’s why we’re adding more flights, and we’re encouraging everyone to book early and join our promos!”

AirAsia also said this is the lowest fuel surcharge they’ve seen for 2025 so far — which is great news for anyone who wants to fly soon or later this year.

Their spokesperson, Mr. Steve Dailisan, added:

“If you book your flight early — like three months before — you can save even more money!”

✨ So, What Should You Do?

  • Tell your parents or guardians this good news!

  • If you’re planning a trip in June or later, book early so you can enjoy the lowest fares.

  • Watch out for airline seat sales and promos — they might be even cheaper now!

This June might just be the perfect time for an adventure in the skies! 🌤️🧳🌏
