Ruru Madrid Finds Home in Tondo While Filming ‘Hari ng Tondo’

Ruru Madrid: Finding Home in Tondo

Ruru Madrid has discovered a second home during the filming of his upcoming Kapuso action-drama series in Tondo, Manila. The warmth and hospitality of the locals have touched his heart, making the bustling streets feel like a welcoming embrace.

In a recent report by Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras,” Ruru described how the residents have opened their arms to him and the entire production team. “Siyempre, kailangan nating i-entertain lahat ng taong andoon dahil kami po ‘yung kumbaga bisita eh,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of making everyone feel valued.

Wherever they shoot in Tondo, the sense of community is palpable. Ruru is determined to give back to the neighborhood that has shown them so much kindness. “Every time na may pinupuntahan kaming lugar sa Tondo, parang welcome na welcome kami,” he said with a smile. His small acts of goodwill, like supporting local vendors, illustrate his heartfelt appreciation.

For instance, he often buys out the merchandise of a particular vendor he connects with. “Ang ginagawa ko, pinapakyaw ko ‘yung mga tinda niya tapos pinapamigay ko sa set,” he explained. It’s a simple yet meaningful gesture, showing that even in a bustling film set, he hasn’t forgotten the people around him. “Kahit papaano, sa mga residente na naiistorbo natin,” he added, making it clear that he values their understanding as they film.

Meanwhile, the series also features Rocco Nacino, who plays one of the antagonists. Rocco is taking a unique approach to his role, finding joy in embracing the darker side of his character. “Nag-t-try ako ng something different. Since ini-enjoy ko ang pagiging kontrabida, nailalaro ko ang character ko,” he revealed. By creating some distance from the cast, he hopes to bring out the complexities of his character.

He admits that his playful nature often shines through, especially around friends. “Makulit kasi ako lalo na kapag kaibigan ko,” he chuckled, noting that he’s working on maintaining focus during filming.

The series is star-studded, featuring talents like Dennis Trillo, Ryza Cenon, Ysabel Ortega, Elle Villanueva, Arra San Agustin, and Heath Jornales. With Gary Estrada, Victor Neri, Nonie Buencamino, and the special participation of Isko Moreno rounding out the cast, audiences can expect a compelling story full of emotion and depth.

Directed by Enzo Williams, this upcoming series promises drama, action, and a heartwarming connection to the community—one that Ruru has so sincerely embraced.

As filming continues, Ruru Madrid reminds us all of the power of kindness, community, and the beautiful bonds that can form when we open our hearts to those around us.
