PSA: Births, deaths in January to September 2023 lower than same period in 2022

The number of registered births from January to September 2023 is lower by 16.5% than those recorded in the same period the year before in 2022, provisional data from the Philippine Statistics Office showed.

Deaths, on the other hand, from January to September in 2023 were lower by 11.5% compared to the same period in 2022.

Marriages from January to September in 2023 were lower by 15.9% compared to the same period in 2022. 

PSA said that the provisional number of registered births from January to September 2023 reached 879,511.

“With the cut-off date by end of November 2023 in processing the birth certificates, this is lower by 16.5% than the total registered births of 1,052,747 in the same period in 2022,” PSA said.

The PSA said the provisional number of registered deaths from January to September 2023 reached 449,206, lower by 11.5 percent than the total registered deaths of 507,516 in the same period in 2022. 

It said the cut-off date for processing the death certificates is the same with the birth and marriage certificates which was on November 30.

The PSA said the provisional number of registered marriages from January to September 2023 reached 284,649. 

“With the same cut-off date in processing the birth certificates, this preliminary count is lower by 15.9 percent than the total registered marriages of 338,489 in the same period in 2022,” the PSA said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
