Something very serious and scary just happened in the Middle East. A Filipina overseas worker (OFW) is fighting for her life after a missile attack by Iran hit parts of Israel.
On Monday, Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the Filipina was one of four Filipinos who got hurt during the airstrikes. These were sudden attacks from the sky using missiles — super dangerous flying weapons that explode.
Sadly, it was reported that the injured Filipina got hit in her heart and lungs, and now doctors say her condition is critical. That means her life is in great danger.
Out of the four injured:
-
Two (one OFW and one Filipino with dual citizenship) are now out of the hospital and seem to be getting better.
-
Another OFW is still recovering in the hospital.
-
But the critically injured Filipina is still in very serious condition.
What Happened During the Attack?
Secretary Cacdac said they don’t know the full story yet, but they believe the two most injured Filipinos didn’t make it to a shelter (a safe place to hide during attacks). That may be why they were badly hurt.
Other Filipinos in Israel Are Now Being Helped
There are 14 Filipinos staying in Rehovot, Israel right now, and at least 8 of them have no homes left. The Philippine government gave them temporary shelter to keep them safe.
Because of the dangerous situation, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv is now closed for safety. But if you are in Israel and need help, there are emergency contact numbers you can call:
📞 Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv: +972 54-4661188
📞 Migrant Workers’ Office: +972 50-7622590
📞 Overseas Welfare Office: +972 50-7156937
What About Filipinos in Iran?
The Philippine Embassy in Iran has not reported any injured OFWs. There are 30 Filipinos there, and all of them seem to be safe for now.
However, the embassy is warning everyone: Don’t go outside unless it’s really important, because Israel has also launched attacks on Iran.
Secretary Cacdac said the government is ready to bring Filipinos home (called repatriation) if the danger gets worse.
So What’s Really Going On?
Here’s what’s happening:
-
Iran attacked Israel with missiles last Friday.
-
In Israel: At least 30 people died, and over 300 were hurt, including some Filipinos.
-
In Iran: Over 200 people were killed, and Iran says most of them were civilians — regular people, not soldiers.
This is a serious and heartbreaking moment. Many families are worried. Many people are hurt. The Filipino government is now working hard to keep our fellow Filipinos safe during this dangerous conflict.
Let’s all pray for the safety and fast recovery of the injured Filipina and hope that peace comes soon. 🇵🇭🙏
