Peso Strengthens Against Dollar for Third Day in a Row!

Philippine Peso Makes a Remarkable Turnaround Against the US Dollar

In a heartening turn of events, the Philippine peso has proven its resilience in the face of economic pressures, holding strong against the US dollar for the third consecutive trading day. As of Tuesday, the local currency closed at P63.47 to $1, marking a notable increase of 27 centavos from its previous rate of P63.74 to $1 on October 30, 2026.

This positivity has largely been attributed to reassuring signals from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who has been proactive since October 28. After the peso recently dipped to a troubling record low against the dollar, the President took it upon himself to calm rising concerns among Filipinos.

“First of all, do not take it with alarm. Don’t panic,” he urged in a heartfelt appeal to the public. Marcos affirmed that his administration is committed to defending the peso “as hard as we possibly can.” His message is clear: the government possesses all the necessary tools and resources to support the peso’s stability.

The impact of the long holiday weekend, with the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, also played a role in this optimistic shift. According to Michael Ricafort, chief economist at Rizal Commercial Banking Corp., many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families converted US dollars to pesos in preparation for travel back to their hometowns and other destinations across the country.

This influx of currency exchange has further bolstered the peso, giving families a sense of relief during this season of remembrance and reunion.

In these uncertain economic times, the resilience of the peso offers hope. With strong leadership and community support, the Filipino spirit shines bright, as we navigate these challenges together.
