Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are the lifeblood of our nation. Their hard work and determination abroad often come at a personal cost. Now, as they arrive in Cebu and the beautiful Visayas, they can find a comforting oasis just steps from their flight—welcome to the very first OFW Lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA)!
A New Chapter for Migrant Workers
This lounge is not just another airport service; it’s a heartfelt recognition of the sacrifices made by OFWs. It’s the third international OFW Lounge launched by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), following similar lounges at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila.
This project is the result of a partnership between OWWA, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation. Together, they have created a space that truly puts the needs of our migrant workers first.

Imagine stepping into a space designed with you in mind—a place that understands your journey. The lounge can accommodate up to 80 people and offers a host of amenities to make your wait more pleasant:

– Wi-Fi access and charging stations: Stay connected with your loved ones.
– Assistance desks: Here, your OFW-related concerns are addressed with care.
Additionally, the lounge offers OWWA’s frontline services, including membership registration, E-Card issuance, and various welfare services. This is more than just a lounge; it’s a supportive community hub for our valued workers.
Exclusive Perks for OFWs
But that’s not all! Alongside the lounge, a partnership has been launched between OWWA and SSP Mactan Cebu, allowing OWWA E-Card holders to enjoy exclusive dining and retail discounts at several airport establishments. Indulge in delicious meals at Burger King, savor treats from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, or enjoy a bite at BonChon. It’s all about making the experience better and more rewarding!

At the lounge’s opening ceremony, OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan expressed the organization’s dedication to OFWs. “We believe our OFWs deserve a lounge of their own in one of the country’s finest international airports here in Cebu. This is a simple but meaningful way of honoring their sacrifices and recognizing their invaluable contributions to our nation.”
She emphasized the lounge’s role in ensuring that migrant workers receive “the care, protection, and support they deserve at every stage of their migration journey.” It’s a promise of safety and support for those who give so much.
