MMDA task force activated against Edsa busway violators

MANILA, Philippines: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) introduced its Special Operations Group on Tuesday that will focus on traffic violators, especiaĺly those along the Edsa Busway.

The 74 MMDA personnel to be divided into four or five groups will be directly supervised by Assistant General Manager for Operations David Angelo Vargas and its deputy officer-in-charge Gabriel Go.

They will be part of a more intensified campaign against motorists who will use the Edsa busway despite an existing ban.

Vargas led the inspection of the busway along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.

As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, there were 41 violators — 23 of whom rode motorcycles, 17 four-wheeled vehicles, and 1 public utility bus.

On the first week of implementation that began on November 13, 1,262 motorists were apprehended, with the MMDA recording 345 from November 20 to 26.
