Lyca Gairanod Responds to 2022 Criticism with Strength!

Lyca Gairanod: A Heartfelt Response to Criticism and a Journey of Resilience

In a candid moment during her recent appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Lyca Gairanod opened up about the backlash she faced in 2022. It all started when she followed the social media accounts of President Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte, and performed at their campaign rally.

For the young singer, the negativity was far from personal. “When it comes to social media, I can follow anyone. It doesn’t really matter to me,” she shared in Filipino. “It wasn’t personal. There was no issue. I’ve never really been into politics.”

Life threw a challenging curveball at Lyca in 2022 when her father suffered a stroke. Faced with this heart-wrenching reality, she was determined to support her family. “I accepted every job offer to help us get by, including performing at that event,” she explained. “Even though I faced criticism, I was willing to do it for the sake of my family—especially for my dad. It wasn’t about me. All I wanted was for him to recover.”

Lyca recalled how pursuing her dreams wasn’t just for her, but for her loved ones. “Was I just going to give up? It was the hardest thing we ever went through,” she said, reflecting on her father’s health crisis.

As her song “Puede Nang Mangarap” gained popularity, she found herself in a tough spot with netizens questioning her political views. In a heartfelt response to one commenter, she asserted, “I don’t have anything to prove to you. I worked hard for my family. Please don’t take it personally. Love you all.”

In an earlier TikTok video, Lyca addressed the concerns surrounding her personal choices with fierce honesty. “Why are you meddling in my affairs? I don’t believe in anything when it comes to politics. That’s it. I don’t trust politics,” she declared in Filipino, showcasing her desire to stay true to herself amidst the noise.

Lyca’s journey to fame began when she won the first season of “The Voice Kids Philippines” back in 2014. Since then, she has faced ups and downs but remains resolute, championing her family and her dreams over external judgments.

In a world full of judgments and opinions, Lyca Gairanod stands out as a beacon of resilience and love. Her story reminds us that sometimes, the path to support our loved ones requires bravery—and sometimes, it means being true to ourselves, regardless of what others may say.
