A man named Julie “Dondon” Patidongan made a shocking claim on Friday. He said that famous actress Gretchen Barretto agreed that some people who cheated in cockfights should be punished—and even made to disappear.
This all came from a report by journalist Emil Sumangil on the show “24 Oras.”
Who is Involved?
Patidongan said he, Gretchen Barretto, and a man named Celso Salazar were all part of a special group called the “alpha group.” This group was close to a rich businessman named Charlie “Atong” Ang. Patidongan says Ang is the mastermind behind the case of 34 missing sabungeros (cockfighters).
What Did They Allegedly Talk About?
According to Patidongan, during one group meeting, Atong Ang asked them:
“Should we punish the cockfighters who were cheating?”
Patidongan claimed that Gretchen Barretto was in that meeting—and she raised her hand to say yes, the cheaters should be dealt with.
He said:
“Gretchen is part of Mr. Atong Ang’s group. She was there when we met and agreed to make the sabungeros disappear.”
What Did Gretchen Say?
Gretchen’s lawyer, Atty. Alma Mallonga, strongly denied the claim. She said the actress was never part of any meeting like that. She never said anyone should disappear, and the whole story is a complete lie.
The lawyer added:
“Ms. Barretto never went to any meeting where such things were discussed. This story is so crazy, it sounds made-up! It’s really unfair that she is being judged based on rumors.”
What’s Happening Now?
News reporters tried to contact Atong Ang and Celso Salazar to ask for their side, but they haven’t answered yet.
So for now, it’s one person’s word against another. The truth? That’s still unfolding.
