The fight between Israel and Iran has sadly affected some of our fellow Filipinos living abroad. According to the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, 8 Filipinos were hurt, and 1 is still in serious condition.
🏥 What Happened?
As of 11 p.m. on June 20, here’s what we know:
-
7 out of 8 injured Filipinos have already been treated and sent home from the hospital.
-
But 1 Filipina is still in the intensive care unit (ICU).
She had to go through major lung surgery because of very serious, life-threatening injuries.
Doctors say she will need another surgery when she becomes strong enough.
🏚️ Missiles Destroyed Homes
The scary part? It’s not just injuries.
➡️ At least 88 Filipinos lost their homes when missiles landed and caused huge damage.
These include a newborn baby, just born on June 10.
Right now, they’re all staying in temporary shelters, like safe houses, while the embassy looks after them.
✈️ Repatriation: Some Want to Go Home, Some Are Unsure
Because of the danger, some Filipinos want to return to the Philippines.
-
A total of 191 Filipinos first asked for help to fly back.
-
But so far, only 26 have confirmed they’re going home.
-
These 26 are being helped by the embassy and might return home this weekend.
Since airplanes can’t fly from Israel right now, they may cross the border into Jordan to catch a flight from there.
❓Why Aren’t More People Going Home?
Some Filipino workers are scared to leave because they’re unsure if they’ll be allowed to return to their jobs once the conflict ends.
“The big question they ask is, ‘If we go home, can we come back?’
We can’t promise that,” said Eduardo De Vega, a leader from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
No one knows exactly when the fighting will stop, so it’s hard to give any guarantees.
📢 Senator Tulfo: Please Leave While You Still Can
Senator Raffy Tulfo, who helps take care of overseas workers, is asking all Filipinos in Israel and Iran to evacuate now before the situation gets worse.
“Even though this isn’t a forced evacuation yet,
it’s safer to leave and go home if you can,” he said.
He promised that the Philippine government will help everyone who decides to return.
🌍 What’s Happening Between Iran and Israel?
The fight between the two countries got worse recently:
-
Iran and Israel launched new attacks at each other last Saturday.
-
This came after Iran refused to talk about its nuclear program while under pressure.
-
Meanwhile, Europe is trying to help both sides find peace.
🙏 Let’s Hope for Peace
While the conflict continues far away, many Filipino families are deeply affected. Let’s pray for the safety of all our kababayans and hope for peace soon.
