Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has put everything in place for the big impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. He signed a special order to make sure the Senate is ready to function as an impeachment court, assigning key officials to handle different responsibilities.
Who’s in Charge?
- Senate Secretary → Now the official Clerk of Court, managing all paperwork and proceedings.
- Senate Legal Counsel & Deputy Secretary for Legislation → Acting as Deputy Clerks, handling legal matters, drafting court resolutions, and making sure the trial runs smoothly.
- Sergeant-at-Arms → Responsible for delivering summons and subpoenas and keeping the courtroom secure.
What’s Their Job?
- Recording and reporting everything that happens during the trial.
- Preparing court schedules, notices, and official orders.
- Ensuring all legal documents like subpoenas and decisions are drafted properly.
- Keeping the Senate chamber safe and organized for a smooth process.
This setup is effective immediately and will continue until the impeachment trial ends. With everything in motion, all eyes are on the Senate as the highly anticipated trial unfolds!
