Have you ever flown on a plane and eaten a meal there? Well, soon, the eggs in those meals will come from happy hens that aren’t stuck in tiny cages!
Cebu Pacific Catering Services (CPCS), the company that cooks over 2,000 meals a day for international flights from Mactan-Cebu Airport, made a huge promise: by the year 2030, all the eggs they use will be 100% cage-free.
👉 What are cage-free eggs?
They come from hens that are not trapped in small cages. These hens can move, flap their wings, walk around, and live a more natural life indoors. This makes the hens healthier and happier—and it also makes the eggs safer to eat!
🧑🍳 Why did CPCS do this?
CPCS wants to help the planet and treat animals better. Sherwin Olivar, their big boss, said this move is about being more kind, clean, and smart when it comes to food. They want to match what big companies around the world are doing to help animals and nature.
🌎 Who helped make this happen?
A group called Lever Foundation, which helps companies be more kind to animals, worked closely with CPCS. Their manager, Robyn del Rosario, said CPCS is now a leader in airline food because of this big change.
📊 Why does it matter?
Scientists in Europe found that cage-free egg farms are way safer—up to 25 times less likely to have bad germs like salmonella! That means the eggs are better for everyone.
Fun fact: Places like Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and some U.S. states already banned caged egg farming because it’s unfair to animals and risky for people.
🥚💛 More and more people now choose cage-free eggs—or no eggs at all—to help hens live better lives.
With this move, CPCS is not just flying people safely, they’re also helping animals and keeping your meals up in the clouds kinder and safer!
