The Department of Tourism (DOT) is super happy because a group of smart global experts, called the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), said something amazing: Tourism in the Philippines might earn ₱5.9 trillion in 2025! 🤯
That’s a HUGE amount of money! Imagine having 5.9 trillion one-peso coins — it’s more than the money we made from tourism even before COVID!
This amount will be like giving a big boost to the country’s money supply — like when your piggy bank gets full really fast. In fact, the group said that tourism could make up 21% of everything our country earns — that’s more than 1/5 of our total economy!
Why is this happening?
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said it’s because of smart moves:

We’re offering more than beaches — like adventures, food trips, and cultural tours

And we’re focusing on quality, not just quantity
She said the government wants the Philippines to become a tourism powerhouse in Asia 💪

In 2025, more than 11.7 million jobs are expected to be supported by tourism — that’s almost 1 in every 4 jobs in the country!

WTTC’s Reaction?
WTTC’s President Julia Simpson said the Philippines is a great example of how tourism can help a country grow fast — especially when leaders plan ahead, invest in things like roads and airports, and support local workers and businesses.
So what does this mean?
If the plans work, more people will visit, more Filipinos will have jobs, and the country will earn more money — all by making travel around the Philippines even better and more exciting! 🌞🌴✈️
