MANILA, Philippines — After a brief health scare, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is back on his feet — and back to work.
Malacañang confirmed that the President is now “back to normal” following his recent hospitalization due to diverticulitis, putting to rest rumors that he would undergo surgery.
At a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro firmly addressed the circulating reports.
“Right now, the President is in a meeting,” Castro said in Filipino. “So that’s fake news.”
The clarification came amid speculation about Marcos’ condition, which quickly spread online. But according to the Palace, the President never stopped working.
On Monday, Marcos held a meeting with the government’s Economic and Development Council — a clear sign, officials said, that he has fully recovered and resumed his official duties.
Castro added that photos and details from the meeting would be shared on the official social media pages of both the President and the PCO, offering transparency and reassurance to the public.
Marcos was admitted to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on January 22 after experiencing discomfort. He later revealed that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis — a condition involving inflammation in small pouches along the digestive tract.
The hospital stay lasted just a day.
Now, the message from the Palace is clear:
The President is well.
He’s working.
And it’s business as usual.
