😢 She Was Almost Home… But Never Made It
Wilma Auza, a hardworking Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Kuwait, was so close to going home to her family in Dumaguete. But something heartbreaking happened: she passed away while on her way home.
🚌 What Happened?
Wilma had just finished her job contract in Kuwait. She didn’t go home because of an emergency or rescue — she was simply going home after working hard for years.
She flew back to the Philippines, and everything seemed okay… until she got on a bus heading to Dumaguete. That’s when the tragedy happened.
While traveling, Wilma had a heart attack — also called cardiac arrest — and sadly, she died before she reached home.

Wilma wasn’t just a worker — she was a mother, a wife, and a friend. She was one of the many modern-day heroes who leave their families behind to work abroad and give their loved ones a better life.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) shared how much Wilma sacrificed for her family. In their words:
“Wilma’s love and strength showed the true bravery of our OFWs. She gave everything for her family’s future.”
📢 What is OWWA Doing Now?
OWWA said that they are still investigating the full details of what happened, since Wilma was not a repatriated worker (which means she wasn’t sent home by the government). She went home on her own, peacefully ending her contract — but didn’t make it all the way back to her family.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan said they are now talking to Wilma’s family to give them help and financial support.
“We stand with Wilma’s family during this time of sadness. We honor her strength and everything she gave for her loved ones.”
