87% of Pinoys Say: Education Must Be Top Senate Priority!

Have you ever wondered what most Filipinos want the new Senate to focus on? A big survey shows that 87 out of 100 Filipinos think the new Senate should work hard to improve education first!

This survey was done by Stratbase and Social Weather Stations (SWS) between May 2 and 6. They asked many people what they think the Senate should do after the recent elections on May 12.

Most people said the Senate must make education better for everyone. They want schools to be easier to attend, more scholarships for students, and more programs that teach useful skills like vocational training.

Did you know that a study found about 5.58 million Filipinos who finished junior high school still have trouble reading and writing well? That’s why fixing education is very important.

But education isn’t the only thing Filipinos care about. The survey also showed that:

  • 83% want the Senate to help farmers by giving them money, training, and better ways to sell their crops. This helps everyone have enough food.

  • 82% think improving hospitals and healthcare is very important.

  • 79% say the Senate should support programs that help families with little money.

  • 74% want senators to work on raising the minimum wage so workers can earn more.

  • 73% say creating more jobs should be a top priority.

  • 71% believe the Senate should control prices to keep things like food and medicine affordable.

  • 67% want better rules to make sure the government uses money honestly and wisely.

This survey talked to 1,800 registered voters all over the Philippines — from big cities like Metro Manila to smaller areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. This makes sure the results show what many Filipinos really think.

So, what do you think? Should the Senate start by fixing education and helping farmers, hospitals, and workers? Many Filipinos say yes — and they want their leaders to listen and act soon!
