34 OFWs Home from Saudi, 65 More Arriving Tuesday!

A Heartfelt Welcome Home: The Return of Our Overseas Filipino Workers

On a beautiful Monday, the Philippines opened its arms wide as 34 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returned home from Saudi Arabia. Their journey, filled with anticipation and a bit of unease, led them back to their loved ones—a moment that many families have longed for.

Why the Return?
The backdrop to this emotional reunion was not just travel plans, but the ever-shifting sands of safety and security. Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen-based Houthi rebels had caused disruptions, leading to the cancellation of flights between Riyadh and Manila. This wave of repatriation was organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), ensuring that our hardworking OFWs could come home safely.

The 34 heroes landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 aboard Qatar Airways flight QR93, after a long journey from Al Qassim, Saudi Arabia. They didn’t embark on this trip alone; the OWWA team in Riyadh was there every step of the way. They provided pre-flight orientations, transportation, food, and temporary accommodations, ensuring that the repatriates were well taken care of before beginning their journey home.

A Community That Cares

What happens when they touch down back in the Philippines? The warm embrace of home awaited them. Upon arrival, the OFWs were greeted with comprehensive support, including transportation, temporary accommodations, and assistance for any domestic flights they might need. It’s more than just logistical support; it’s about bringing peace of mind during a time of uncertainty.

But the story doesn’t end here. Another wave of OFWs is expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. This time, 65 more Filipinos will join their compatriots—50 from Al Qassim and 15 under the care of Bahay Kalinga traveling from Dammam. The continuing efforts of OWWA, in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers, the Philippine Embassy, and the Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh, showcase a community working tirelessly to ensure that every Filipino overseas knows they have a safety net back home.

A Message of Hope

OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan expressed the organization’s commitment beautifully:
“*Sa panahon ng pangangailangan, mahalagang mabilis at maingat tayong kumilos. Nauunawaan natin ang pangamba ng ating mga OFW at ng mga pamilyang naghihintay sa kanilang pag-uwi. Kailangan nila ng malinaw na impormasyon, agarang tulong, at katiyakang may makikinig at aalalay sa kanila.*”
(*In times of need, it is crucial that we act swiftly and carefully. We understand the concerns of our OFWs and the families awaiting their return. They need clear information, immediate assistance, and the assurance that someone will listen and support them.*)

This message highlights the heart and soul of the OWWA’s mission: a commitment to not just logistical support, but to the emotional well-being of every Filipino abroad.

Conclusion

The arrival of these OFWs is much more than a flight landing; it’s about families reuniting, stories being shared, and a sense of belonging rekindled. As they step off the plane, carrying with them dreams and struggles, they also bring the warmth of the Filipino spirit back home.

In every return, there’s a reminder of resilience, community support, and the love that binds us all together. Welcome home, dear OFWs! You have been missed, and your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. Let’s celebrate every journey, every homecoming, and every shared joy.
