Vice President Sara Duterte said something really serious: she believes the Philippines is not ready for a war or any big problem that could shock the world. And she blames this on the government of President Bongbong Marcos. She says there’s no plan, no direction, and no clear vision.
Sara Duterte said all of this while speaking at a rally in Melbourne, Australia, called “Free Duterte Now.” This rally was made to support her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is in jail in the Netherlands. He’s facing charges for very serious crimes against people.
She told her supporters,
“We are not ready for change. We are not ready for war. We are not ready for world problems. There is no plan at all!”
She also said that while she was part of the Cabinet — the President’s team of advisers — she saw that there was no direction from the Marcos government. She now wants people to work together to demand better from the government.
🚫 She’s Against U.S. Missiles in PH
Sara Duterte also said she doesn’t like that the United States put a powerful weapon system called Typhon missiles in the Philippines.
She explained,
“Our problem with China in the West Philippine Sea is just one issue. That doesn’t mean we should take sides and always support the U.S.”
Instead, she said the Philippines should stay neutral and balanced in its relationships with other countries, including the U.S. and China.
🚜 Farmers, Food, and Climate: A Big Mess?
Sara Duterte also complained that the Marcos government is not doing enough to help farmers, protect the environment, or prepare the country for disasters.
“We don’t take care of our farmers. We have no plan to make sure we have enough food. And it’s already halfway through the Marcos term!”
She said the government should focus more on things that really matter, like:
-
Healthcare
-
Better roads and buildings
-
Food security
-
Education
🇵🇭 Her Big Regret About Marcos
Sara Duterte said she ran with Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 elections because she thought he wanted to leave behind a better legacy than his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who ruled during the dark days of Martial Law.
But now, she says,
“I was wrong to trust him as my running mate… Maybe you’re already having doubts about the Marcoses, too.”
She made it clear, though, that she still supports Senator Imee Marcos, the President’s sister. Sara said they’ve been friends since 2012.
🧨 Quits, Resigns, and Faces Impeachment
Just two years after the 2022 elections, Sara Duterte quit her job as Education Secretary, saying politics had become too “toxic” and full of power games.
She also resigned from her political party, Lakas-CMD.
Now, she’s facing a big impeachment case. People have accused her of:
-
Using confidential funds improperly
-
Having unexplained wealth
-
Being involved in extrajudicial killings in Davao City
-
And even making assassination remarks about President Marcos, the First Lady, and the Speaker of the House
