US Protests Grow—LA Sets Curfew as Tension Heats Up!

LOS ANGELES, USA — Things are getting very serious in America.

People in many big cities—like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago—are joining protests. They are upset about how the government is treating people who moved to the US from other countries without permission.

These people are called undocumented immigrants, and many of them came to the U.S. to find work, live safely, and help their families.

🚨 Why Is Los Angeles Under Curfew?

In Los Angeles, the second-biggest city in the US, things got a bit out of control. Even though most people were marching peacefully, some caused damage and broke into stores at night. Because of that, the city set a curfew—which means people must stay inside after a certain time at night. The curfew is happening downtown for a few days.

🪖 President Trump Sends Soldiers

US President Donald Trump made a big decision. He sent in the National Guard and US Marines—which are military troops—to help “keep order” in Los Angeles.

But many people, including California’s governor Gavin Newsom, think this is going too far. He said:

“Instead of helping calm things down, using soldiers made people even more upset.”

Governor Newsom believes the president is using the military like a show, instead of listening to the real problems. He even sued the president in court, asking him to stop sending troops into California.

🧑‍⚖️ Big Fight Between Leaders

President Trump and Governor Newsom don’t agree at all. Trump says he’s protecting the country, and that people waving foreign flags (like Mexico’s) during protests are a threat. He said:

“We will not let America be destroyed. We will free Los Angeles.”

He believes using the military is needed to stop lawlessness (people breaking the rules).

But others say this is a dangerous move and it could make things worse. Some even said that democracy is in danger when military is used to control people in the streets.

📦 Why Are People Protesting?

Many people are upset because Immigration officers (ICE) have been arresting thousands of undocumented immigrants every day—way more than usual.

These arrests are happening fast, and in many places. Families are scared they’ll be taken away from each other. That’s why people are marching, holding signs, and shouting for ICE to stop.

⚠️ Are Protests Only in LA?

Nope! Protests are also happening in:

  • 🗽 New York

  • 🧃 Chicago

  • 🍑 Atlanta

  • And even in Texas

Some people climbed statues, others chanted, and many waved flags from countries like Mexico—to show support for the immigrants being arrested.

🧍 Who Else Is Involved?

In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott is also sending the National Guard to try and stop violence during protests. He said people have the right to protest peacefully, but hurting others or damaging property is not allowed.

📸 Photos Spark Concerns

Photos showed military troops helping ICE officers during immigration raids. Some leaders say this may break a US law from 1878 that says the military cannot act like police in US towns.

That’s why the California government is very worried—and they’re trying to stop it in court.

⚖️ Has This Happened Before?

The last time the military was used like this in Los Angeles was back in 1992, during a huge protest about racial injustice after police beat up a Black man named Rodney King. That was also a very emotional time in America.

🧠 What Does This All Mean?

People in the US are very divided right now. Some believe sending soldiers will bring peace, while others believe it makes people more scared. What everyone agrees on is that something big is happening, and the country is going through a very serious moment.
