Trump Claims Ukraine Open to Talks, Russia Ready for Peace!

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made a bold announcement, saying Ukraine is ready to negotiate peace, and Russia is open to talks. But what does this really mean for the war, U.S. support, and the future of Ukraine?

Ukraine Wants Peace Talks

Trump revealed that he received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Trump, Zelenskyy wrote that Ukraine is prepared to start peace talks as soon as possible. He emphasized that “nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians.”

At the same time, Trump claimed he has been in “serious discussions” with Russia and has received signals that they are also willing to negotiate an end to the war.

Trump told Congress, “Wouldn’t that be beautiful? It’s time to stop this madness, halt the killing, and end this senseless war.”

A Secret Deal for U.S. Support?

Trump also hinted that Ukraine is willing to sign a minerals deal with the U.S. Some sources claim that in exchange for this agreement, the U.S. would continue sending military aid to Ukraine. However, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent later denied that a deal was in the works.

Zelenskyy, who recently had a tense meeting with Trump in Washington, later stated that he is ready to fix relations and sign the minerals deal anytime.

Military Aid on Hold—What Now?

Trump recently paused military aid to Ukraine, a move that could have major consequences. Many in the U.S. and Europe worry that this decision could weaken Ukraine’s defense against Russia.

However, Ukrainian leaders are determined to keep fighting. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated, “We will do everything possible to continue cooperating with the U.S.” He also reassured Ukrainians that their forces could still hold off Russian attacks.

Europe Steps Up

With U.S. aid in question, European countries are taking action:
🇫🇷 France and 🇬🇧 Britain have offered troops to help guard a potential ceasefire.
🇩🇪 Germany is pushing a €500 billion fund for defense.
🇪🇺 The EU is discussing an €800 billion plan for military spending.

French President Emmanuel Macron has already spoken with Trump and Zelenskyy to support peace efforts. However, France’s Prime Minister criticized Trump, saying stopping military aid during an invasion is like “hoping the aggressor will win.”

Ukraine Feels Betrayed

Many Ukrainians are upset over Trump’s decision. Oleksandr Merezhko, a Ukrainian official, called it a move to “push us towards surrender.” Others in Kyiv described it as a betrayal but remained hopeful that European allies and the American people would not abandon them.

What’s Next?

The situation remains unclear. Will peace talks happen? Will Ukraine get its military aid? And what role will the U.S. play in ending the war?

For now, Ukraine is holding strong, but the world is watching what happens next.
