Tensions Rise: Pakistan Vows Payback After India Strike

Two big countries—India and Pakistan—had a very serious fight on Wednesday. India sent missiles into places in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, saying they wanted to destroy terrorist camps. Pakistan got very angry and said they shot down five Indian airplanes. They also said many people in their country were hurt or killed. Now, Pakistan says they will fight back.

Why are they fighting?

Last month, some tourists were killed in Indian Kashmir, and India believes the attackers came from Pakistan. India thinks there are secret camps in Pakistan where bad people train to hurt others. But Pakistan says that is not true and that India just hurt innocent people.

What did India say?

India’s leaders said they hit nine places where they believe these bad people were hiding. They called it “Operation Sindoor,” and said they planned it very carefully to avoid hurting regular people. India said they will hit back again if Pakistan tries to fight more.

What did Pakistan say?

Pakistan said the places India bombed were not terrorist camps. They said 26 civilians died—these were normal people, not fighters. One of the places hit was a mosque-school, where people were praying and living.

Pakistan’s leaders are very angry. They said they will choose the time and place to fight back, and they want the world to know India started it.

Airplanes crashed

Some Indian fighter jets also crashed. Pakistan says they shot them down, but India didn’t agree. People in Kashmir saw metal pieces from the planes in fields and took pictures.

Is it dangerous?

Yes. Both countries have nuclear weapons, which are very powerful bombs. That’s why many world leaders are telling them to stay calm and stop fighting. Even the United Nations, United States, China, and Russia are asking both countries to talk and not make things worse.

What’s happening now?

People in both countries are upset. Some in India are happy their country fought back. Some in Pakistan feel they need to protect their country too. Because of the fighting, flights were canceled, and some money markets got affected too.
