Sipalay City, one of the best beach spots in Negros Occidental, is getting ready for a busy Holy Week, with most of its accommodations already booked! According to Jerick Lacson, the tourism office’s supervisor, about 85% to 90% of the places to stay are already filled for the upcoming holiday.
Why is Sipalay so Popular?
Sipalay, which is about 175 kilometers south of Bacolod City, is known as “The Jewel of Sugar Island.” This is because of its beautiful white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters that attract people from all over, both from the Philippines and abroad.
Where Can You Stay in Sipalay?
Sipalay has over 100 different places to stay, including resorts, hotels, inns, and pension houses. These accommodations are spread out in the city center and nearby areas like Barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and even in more rural spots like Cabadiangan, Camindangan, and Nauhang.
What is Sipalay Doing to Prepare for the Crowds?
To make sure visitors have a safe and enjoyable time during the Holy Week, the city’s tourism office has been working hard. They’ve been visiting different tourist spots to check everything is ready, and they’ve also been putting up helpful signs and emergency information at popular locations.
On April 15, the city officials visited places like Campomanes Bay, Zambales Spring Resort, and the beautiful Sugar Beach to make sure everything is in place for tourists to enjoy.
Environmental Fee for Tourists
In addition to its preparations, Sipalay City has started charging an environmental fee from visitors. As of April 12, local tourists pay PHP50, while international tourists pay PHP100 when visiting major attractions. This fee helps the city take care of its beautiful nature and ensure it remains clean and sustainable for everyone.
What’s New in Sipalay?
Visitors can also check out the new Hiyas Sipalay City Pasalubong Shop. Located at the Sipalay City Multi-Purpose Center, this shop offers a range of authentic local souvenirs made by local artisans, including handicrafts and food items.
With so many preparations underway, Sipalay is all set to welcome tourists for an unforgettable Holy Week experience! If you’re planning to visit, make sure to book your stay soon—spots are filling up fast!
