Philippines’ 4,661 new COVID-19 cases bring active tally to 40,315

The Philippines on Friday logged 4,661 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 3,823,084.

According to the Department of Health’s (DOH) latest data, the country’s active case count also increased to 40,315 from 37,962 on Thursday.

A total of 2,223 more patients defeated the respiratory disease bringing the country’s recovery tally to 3,721,825, according to the Health department.

The DOH said at least 28 new fatalities were also recorded raising the death toll to 60,944.

The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 15,725, followed by Calabarzon with 10,102; Central Luzon with 5,201; Western Visayas with 2,802; and Central Visayas with 2,143.

The data also showed 24,697 individuals were tested, while 328 testing laboratories submitted data as of Thursday, August 11.

The DOH said the bed occupancy in the country climbed to 30.2% an increase from the earlier 29.9%. It added that at least 8,715 beds were occupied, and 20,178 were vacant.–LDF, GMA News
