Philippine Teams Make Historic Mark Inside FIFA Museum

MANILA, Philippines – Football (or soccer, as some call it) has been played for over 150 years and is now loved by people all around the world. But here’s something that makes it even more exciting for Filipinos — Philippine football is now part of the FIFA Museum! ⚽🌏

🏛️ Where Is the FIFA Museum?

The FIFA Museum is in Zurich, Switzerland, and it’s like a magical place for football fans! It’s run by FIFA, the big organization that takes care of football worldwide.

The museum opened in 2016, and it’s HUGE — as big as 38,000 square feet! It has:

  • ⚽ Over a thousand football treasures and items

  • 🍽️ A sports bar, bistro, and café

  • 📚 A library and conference rooms

  • 🏢 Even apartments and office spaces above!

🧳 Lockers Named After Legends

Before entering, visitors must keep their stuff in lockers — but these aren’t just any lockers. They’re named after football legends like:

  • Franz Beckenbauer

  • Bobby Moore

  • Romario

  • Iker Casillas

  • And many more!

It’s like walking into a hall of fame before you even reach the exhibits!

👕 The Philippines’ Jersey at the Door

Right near the entrance is a rainbow wall of jerseys from all the countries in FIFA — and guess what? You’ll see the white home jersey of the Philippines proudly hanging there! 🇵🇭👕

🏆 A Walk Through World Cup History

Inside, you’ll find a long hallway filled with amazing football history:

  • On the right side: All the Men’s World Cups — from Uruguay 1930 to Argentina’s win in Qatar 2022

  • On the left side: All the Women’s World Cups — from the USA’s win in 1991 to Spain’s victory in 2023

🌟 Philippines Makes History in 2023!

The 2023 Women’s World Cup is super special for Filipinos — it was the first time ever that the Philippine women’s football team qualified for the World Cup!

That tournament was hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and guess what? Filipino fans and players are featured in the museum’s display! 💙⚽

You’ll also see the team’s blue away jersey and information about their historic 2023 journey — a proud moment for the country!

🏆 Real World Cup Trophies on Display

At the end of the hallway, you’ll see the real World Cup trophies for both the men’s and women’s tournaments. 🏆

  • When a team wins, they get a replica trophy

  • The original trophies stay in the museum, shining bright for fans to see

  • There’s even a “Wall of Champions” with the names of every winning country and their players!

Famous players who visit the museum can:

  • Leave a golden rivet next to their name

  • Sign a big circular board for fans to see!

🇵🇭 Philippines to Host First FIFA Tournament!

Another big surprise — the Philippines will host its first ever FIFA tournament this year: the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup!

It will be the first time the country welcomes the global football spotlight on home soil. 🌍🇵🇭

🕹️ End with Fun & Games!

After checking out all the exhibits, visitors can:

  • Play football-themed arcade games

  • Try out older versions of the official FIFA video games

  • Shop for cool stuff in the museum store!
