NDRRMC: P105 million in aid given to victims of shear line rains, flooding

Several regions affected by shear line-caused rains and floods since the Christmas weekend received P105,131,285.14 in assistance, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.

In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said the Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and Caraga Regions received assistance.

The assistance was composed of family food packs, emergency shelters, hygiene kits, blankets, bottled water, and other relief items.

A total of 681,500 people or 170,978 families in 1,133 barangays were affected by the shear line.

Of those affected, 16,300 individuals, or 4,711 families, remained in 100 evacuation centers; while 40,918 people, or 10,909 families, took shelter in other places.

The reported death toll remained at 52, of which 13 were confirmed, with 39 others still up for validation.

There were also 18 people still reported missing, while 16 were injured.

The NDRRMC said the damage to agriculture stood at P325,279,850.12. The National Irrigation Administration also recorded P2,050,000 worth of damage.

Meanwhile, damage to infrastructure was at P268,565,000.

The shear line also damaged 5,152 houses, with the damage valued at P101,615,000.

Of these houses, 4,242 were partially damaged, while 910 were totally damaged. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
