NBI Pushes Criminal Charges Against VP Duterte

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has officially recommended filing criminal charges against Vice President Sara Duterte! They claim she made a serious threat to have President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife, and his cousin—House Speaker Martin Romualdez—killed if something happened to her.

What Happened?

This all started back in November 2024, when Duterte allegedly said she had spoken to an assassin and gave instructions to take out the President and his family. The NBI says this could be inciting to sedition and making grave threats, which are serious crimes under Philippine law.

What Happens Next?

Now, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will decide if there’s enough evidence to start a formal investigation. If they do, the Vice President could face legal battles that could shake Philippine politics!

Duterte Responds

Sara Duterte wasn’t surprised by the NBI’s move. She simply said their recommendation was “as expected.” She has repeatedly denied making any real threats and insists her words were taken out of context.

Bigger Political War?

This is just one of the many battles between Duterte and Marcos, who were once allies but are now at odds. Duterte is already facing an impeachment complaint for these threats and for allegedly misusing government funds.

With the country watching closely, will Duterte fight back or face the legal consequences?
