Marcos reminds sworn in execs that gov’t efforts in vain if people don’t benefit

Government efforts would be for nothing if the public would not benefit from it, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Monday.

“Palagi kong sinasabi na marami tayong pinaplano na maganda para sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas. Ngunit kung hindi – sabihin na natin gumanda nang husto ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas, hindi naman bumababa at hindi naman nararamdaman ng taong-bayan eh sayang lang ang ating naging trabaho. Iilan lang ang yumayaman,” said Marcos during an oath-taking ceremony of new government officials.

(I keep saying that we have a lot of good things planned for the Philippine economy. However, even if the economy improves but this doesn’t trickle down to the citizens, our work would be wasted. Only a few will benefit.)

According to the Presidential Communications Office, sworn in during the ceremony in Malacanang were officials of the National Amnesty Commission (NAM); National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC); Marawi Compensation Board (MCB); Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU).

Marcos went on to encourage the newly sworn-in officials to study their organizations thoroughly and figure out what needed to be done so that the government could carry out interventions for the benefit of the people.

“We know how important your work is. And that is why it is very, very important that you understand that we must work together because we are here willing, and we are here to support all the advocacies that your agencies represent. And that is our end of this bargain,” Marcos said.

“And of course, we are very confident in the performance that you will show after, now that we have made official your positions in the different agencies. So, I look forward to hearing from you as you get to settle into your jobs,” he added.

The President said that the NAPC’s mandate was significant as the agency helped in distributing wealth equitably while OPAPRU could do its part in advancing peace in the country.

Meanwhile, it was time for further improvements in Marawi City.

“As we can all realize it is not a very quick process, hindi naman puwedeng imadali. Ngunit kailangan talaga nating simulan at maraming nag-aantay na hindi pa nakakauwi,” Marcos said.

(This can’t be rushed. But we do have to get things started because a good number of people are waiting to go home.)

“Panahon na siguro, na pagkakataon na gawin natin ang lahat may makita man lang na pagbabago, may progress, para naman ay may maaasahan ang mga residents ng Marawi,” he added.

(Maybe it’s time, it’s the opportune moment for us to do everything so they can at least see that there is progress, so Marawi’s residents will have something to look forward to.) — DVM, GMA Integrated News
