Fifth Solomon’s Journey of Courage: Embracing His True Self
In a heartfelt moment on the video podcast, Fifth Solomon opened up about his coming out story, revealing the emotional journey he experienced on “Pinoy Big Brother.” With a sense of nostalgia, he said, “When I came out, it was also scary.” Growing up in a Born Again school made the prospect of revealing his truth even more daunting.
Reflecting on that pivotal moment, Fifth recalled watching his coming out video two years later. “PBB was happy,” he noted, “but it was not always happy.” The pressures of fame can take a toll, and he admitted, “Your mental and emotional capacity will be tested.”
At first, Fifth felt the weight of fear pressing down on him. However, in hindsight, he sees his decision as a bold step worth taking. “At least, I came out on television, fabulous,” he said, with a spark of pride. Initially identifying as bisexual, he later realized he was “full-blown gay.” The choice to label himself as bisexual was, in part, a protective measure for his budding showbiz career. “I was playing it safe,” he explained, acknowledging the industry’s expectations for love teams and romantic pairings.
Despite the challenges, Fifth found that coming out opened many doors for him. His sister, Chariz Solomon, also known as the host of “Your Honor,” shared a poignant moment after Fifth’s revelation—when their father called her, expressing disappointment. Fifth, however, found solace in the fact that he and his father were never particularly close. “It didn’t matter,” he said, noting their strained relationship growing up.
In an emotional reflection, Fifth’s twin brother, Fourth, recounted how he knew about Fifth’s sexuality even before the official coming out. “I was scared for Fifth because it’s not common to be in that situation, right?” Fourth admitted, but he watched in admiration as Fifth blossomed into a more authentic version of himself. “It went well because Fifth’s identity leveled up,” he said proudly. “His artistic qualities came out 100 percent.”
Fifth Solomon’s story is one of bravery, resilience, and ultimately, self-acceptance. Amid the fear and uncertainty, he discovered the beauty of living authentically.
