The New Clark City Stadium gained buzz on the X app after the announcement that it will be the venue where Enhypen will perform next year.
Enhypen is set to return to the Philippines for the “Fate” World Tour on February 3. This makes the group the first musical act and K-pop act to hold a show there.
Belift Lab, their label, announced the group’s tour dates on its social media accounts on Tuesday, October 24.
The upcoming schedule was also shared by the Philippine Concerts page, an online account dedicated to posting updates about the local concert scene.
Following these announcements, the key phrases “New Clark City” and “Tarlac” landed on the trending list of X Philippines.
So far, the former garnered 28,200 posts and the latter has over 8,000 posts.
Several Filipinos, including fans of the group, reacted in shock and excitement that the New Clark City Stadium was the chosen venue for Enhypen’s concert.
Originally, the stadium was built to host the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. It is located in New Clark City, a real estate development complex within the Clark Special Economic Zone in the province.
“New Clark City is in Tarlac, and it has like 20,000 capacity, and it’s a stadium. Are we gonna have fireworks for their last stop?” an X user said.
“The New Clark City Stadium is SO BIG! I can’t even imagine how beautiful the fireworks display will be plus hearing ph Engenes’ loud fanchants!! I’m getting goosebumps already,” a fan account on the X app wrote.
“Ok we’ll prolly have fireworks. Please galingan niyo madam alam ko na more than 1 day to pakidamihan din food stalls hahaha,” another Filipino said and also tagged the official X account of Happee Sy-Go, the co-owner of Pulp Live World.
Some fan accounts, meanwhile, pointed out that February 3 was also the first day when Enhypen performed for the local crowd during their “Manifesto” World Tour early this year.
Enhypen’s “Manifesto” show was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City from February 3 to 5.
Enhypen comprises NI-KI, Heeseung, Sunghoon, Jay, Jungwon, Jake and Sunoo. They were known for their songs “Bite Me,” “Polaroid Love,” “Fever” and “Drunk-Dazed.”
The New Clark City Athletics Stadium, meanwhile, has a 20,000-seating capacity and covers a surface area of 25,000 m2 (270,000 sq. ft).
It was designed by the local architecture firm, ROYAL PINEDA + Architecture and commissioned by the Bases Conversion Development Authority.
During the 30th SEA Games in 2019, only two sports were held in New Clark City—water (swimming, water polo and diving events) and athletics.
The rest of the 56 sports and 530 events were held in other venues. These include in Metro Manila, Laguna, Subic, and Batangas.
