CHEd, DepEd, PNP most trusted by public – survey

FIVE government agencies were the most trusted by the public, a survey commissioned by think tank OCTA Research showed.

In the second-quarter Tugon Ng Masa (TNM) survey, the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DoH), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) topped the list of 25 government agencies in terms of performance ratings, with at least three-fourths of the 1,200 respondents saying they were satisfied with their performance.

The results of the poll, conducted from July 22 to 26, were released Monday.

CHEd had an 80 percent rating; DepEd, 79 percent; PNP, 76 percent; DoH, 75 percent; and DSWD, 73 percent.

CHEd performed strongly in the Visayas, with 91 percent satisfied, zero dissatisfied and only 9 percent undecided.

Eighty-six percent of respondents from Mindanao and the National Capital Region were also satisfied.

CHEd registered the lowest performance rating in Balance Luzon at 71 percent.

Across socioeconomic classes, about eight in 10 Filipinos were satisfied with CHEd’s performance.

The same agencies also make up the top five in terms of trust among the agencies in the survey. CHEd and DSWD had 78 percent, followed by DoH (77 percent), DepEd (75 percent), and PNP (74 percent).

Across socioeconomic classes, trust in the top five government agencies is highest in Class E, with CHEd rating 78 percent in Class D, which is statistically similar to its 77 percent trust rating for Class E.
