Abalos says ex-Pres. Duterte has filed complaint against him, Marbil amid Quiboloy hunt

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos on Monday said former President Rodrigo Duterte has filed two counts of malicious mischief complaints against him and other officials amid the hunt for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

“These are just the cases na finile sa amin (that were filed against us),” Abalos said in a press conference where authorities presented Quiboloy and his co-accused to the media.

The following are the petitions and complaints filed against Abalos and other officials in connection with the implementation of arrest warrants against Quiboloy at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City:

  • petition for writ of amparo and habeas corpus data in favor of petitioners KOJC as represented by executive pastor Marlon Acobo et. al. against Abalos et. al.
  • violation of domicile, interruption of religious worship, offending the religious feelings, and and grave threats under the Revised Penal Code as well as administrative complaint for grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority and/or conduct unbecoming of a public officer filed by Sonia Advincula et. al. against Abalos, Philippine National Police chief Police General Rommel Marbil, among others.
  • malicious mischief filed by Duterte against Abalos, Marbil, among others (two counts)

Abalos said they are expecting more as KOJC legal counsel Atty. Israelito Torreon had threatened to file numerous complaints against them.

“Sinabi nga ng counsel niya, binantaan kaming dalawa na maski magre-retire daw siya, katakot-takot na demanda ang aabutin daw namin, kaming tatlo,” Abalos said, referring to him, Marbil, and Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III.

GMA News Online has sought comment from Duterte, through presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, as well as from Torreon, but they have yet to respond as of posting time.

A close ally of Duterte, Quiboloy surrendered to authorities on Sunday night, ending weeks of tense police operations at the KOJC compound. He is facing three charges involving child abuse, sexual abuse, and qualified human trafficking.
