On Wednesday night, July 3, a group of eight Filipino caregivers landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 after coming home from Israel, a place that’s been in danger because of fighting.
They came home through a special “voluntary return program” by the Philippine government to help Filipino workers in dangerous places get home safely. 🌍🛬
They flew back on Philippine Airlines flight PR 0737, and when they landed, they were welcomed warmly by people from:
-
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)
-
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
-
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)
-
Doctors and health teams from the airport
🏠 What’s Next for the Caregivers?
After landing, the caregivers didn’t just go home on their own. The government promised to help them with:
✅ A safe place to stay temporarily
✅ Free transportation to get home
✅ Checkups at public hospitals, including the OFW Hospital
✅ Help with finding jobs or starting a small business in the Philippines
😢 Shirley’s Story: 20 Years Abroad, 15 Years Away from Home
One of the caregivers, Shirley Pita, shared something very emotional.
She had worked abroad for 20 years—and hadn’t seen home for 15 years! 💔
When she stepped foot back in the Philippines, she was full of tears and joy.
She said:
“Thank you, first to God, and to everyone who helped us—from the embassy to our arrival here at the airport. We were not forgotten.”
🇵🇭 38 Batches of Heroes Have Come Home
This group is the 38th batch of Filipino workers who have been brought home from Israel since the program began in October 2023.
It’s also the second batch since new trouble started between Israel and Iran earlier this year.
The DMW and OWWA say they will keep helping our OFWs come home safely and live better lives in the Philippines. 💪
These returning caregivers may look calm and quiet—but each of them carries a story of strength, sacrifice, and love for home. 🇵🇭❤️
