15 Filipinos Return Home from Israel

Homeward Bound: A Heartfelt Repatriation Journey

On a solemn Friday, a group of fifteen Filipinos took their first steps towards home, leaving behind the turmoil of Israel. Guided by the compassion and dedication of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), they embarked on a journey filled with hope and relief.

The assistance they received was led by the Department of Migrant Workers-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (DMW-OWWA) team from the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv. Their mission: to ensure a safe return for all those yearning to reunite with their loved ones in the Philippines.

This repatriation marked the second flight organized by the Filipino embassy since normal operations resumed at the bustling Ben Gurion International Airport—following a long-awaited ceasefire, which brought a glimmer of hope to many.

The group boarded an El Al flight, taking off from Tel Aviv and making their way to Bangkok. It was a bittersweet moment—leaving the unfamiliar behind, but stepping closer toward the warmth of home. They then transferred to a Philippine Airlines flight that would eventually land them safely in Manila on June 5.

Since the beginning of operations on February 28, the Philippine Embassy has been a lifeline for many, helping a total of 235 Filipinos—including caregivers, hotel workers, minors, tourists, pilgrims, and students—find their way back to the warmth of family and community.

Each return journey is not just about distance traveled; it’s about the stories carried along—the dreams of reuniting, the tears of joy, and the strength found in family ties. For these 15 individuals, their hearts now hold a piece of home.

As they landed in Manila, the airport buzzed with life, but for them, it felt like stepping into a safe embrace after a long and arduous journey. Their hearts beat a little lighter, and their spirits soared a little higher.

In a world fraught with uncertainty, these repatriations remind us of the resilience of the Filipino spirit. It’s a journey of hope, love, and the relentless pursuit of home.

Welcome back, dear friends. Your journey has just begun.
