Actors Kokoy De Santos and Matt Lozano opened up about their behind-the-scenes jitters while filming political satire skits for Bubble Gang, one of GMA Network’s longest-running comedy shows.
In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”, the two stars revealed how portraying political figures on national TV made them anxious — but also determined to deliver their best.
Kokoy took on the role of “Cong. Kikoy,” while Matt played “Senator Espada” in recent episodes of the show.
For Matt, the pressure hit him hard even before the cameras rolled.
To make things tougher, his script was suddenly revised right before taping.
“Ni-revise pala, so lahat nung kinabisado ko nawala,” Matt recalled with a laugh.
Meanwhile, Kokoy said his nerves came from the pressure of honoring Bubble Gang’s legacy — especially since he had to perform in one of the show’s most iconic segments, “Ang Dating Doon.”
Determined to do it right, Kokoy spent hours rehearsing on his own before the live show.
“After rehearsal nung Sabado, Sunday ‘yung live. Four hours ako nasa coffee shop — nagbabasa, nanunuod, paulit-ulit,” he said.
Despite the nerves, both actors expressed pride in being part of “Bubble Gang’s” 30th anniversary celebration — a milestone for the show that has defined Filipino comedy for three decades.
The second part of Bubble Gang’s anniversary special airs on October 26 at 6:10 p.m., promising more laughs and surprises from the iconic Kapuso comedy show.
