The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Monday that the number coding scheme will not be used on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Number coding is the rule where some cars are not allowed to travel on certain days, depending on the last number of their plate. This is usually done to lessen traffic on busy roads.
But this Tuesday, MMDA said the rule will be stopped because of the bad weather that is expected to affect many areas.
In its advisory, MMDA reminded drivers in Filipino:
“The implementation of the expanded number coding scheme is suspended tomorrow, August 26, 2025, due to the expected bad weather. Please drive carefully and always check the latest weather updates.”
Makati City also gave the same announcement, saying its number coding rule will also not be followed on Tuesday.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier shared that classes and government work will also be suspended in several places on Tuesday because of the strong rains.
Based on PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, together with a low-pressure area, will cause heavy rains and cloudy skies in many parts of the country.
