Canadian Embassy Speaks Out After Car Hits Filipino Fest

Something very sad happened during the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver, Canada.

On Saturday, during the festival where many people were happily celebrating, a driver suddenly drove his car into a big crowd of people. Sadly, at least 11 people died, and many others were hurt.

The Canadian Embassy in Manila was very sad to hear about what happened. They said, “We are devastated and heartbroken by the terrible tragedy during the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver.” They also said they send their deepest love and sympathy to the families and friends of the people who were killed or injured. They promised to support the Filipino-Canadian community during this very hard time.

The police in Canada caught the driver. He is a 30-year-old man from Vancouver. The police have charged him with murder because of the deaths and the injuries he caused.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver said something very important: they have not started any fundraising or asked anyone to collect money for the victims. They warned people to be careful because not all fundraising efforts they see may be real.

Everyone is praying for the families and the whole community to stay strong after this heartbreaking event.
