Bohol Airport Opens Doors to Bigger Planes, More Flights Incoming

MANILA – Bohol–Panglao International Airport (BPIA) is now officially ready for wide-body aircraft operations, marking a major milestone for the Aboitiz-led airport.

On Sunday, a 459-seater Cebu Pacific A330 landed on the Manila-Tagbilaran route, showcasing the airport’s new capability to handle larger jets.

“The arrival of the A330 demonstrates our commitment to elevating BPIA to world-class standards,” said Terence Delomoney, chief operating officer of Aboitiz Operating Airports.

With this upgrade, airlines can now increase passenger capacity, offer more direct flights, and bring more travelers to experience the beauty and culture of Bohol.

BPIA’s operator, Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC), has been working tirelessly over the past months on operational enhancements and compliance upgrades.

These improvements include:

  • Upgrading rescue and firefighting equipment

  • Expanding trained personnel

  • Securing certifications to safely accommodate larger aircraft

The introduction of wide-body planes is expected to boost tourism arrivals, open doors to new international routes, and stimulate greater commercial activity in the region.

For Bohol, this means not just more visitors, but also better airline flexibility during peak seasons, helping meet growing demand and strengthening the province’s position as a top travel destination.

BPIA’s latest milestone signals a new chapter in Bohol’s journey toward world-class connectivity, making it easier than ever for travelers to explore the island’s breathtaking attractions.
