PH, Croatia Team Up for Job Program Without Placement Costs

PH, Croatia Working on Job Program With No Placement Fee

Good news may be on the horizon for Filipinos dreaming of working abroad. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is in talks with officials from Croatia to create a government-to-government job program—one with zero placement fees.

In a report by JP Soriano on Saksi, it was revealed that Croatia is looking for workers in the hotel industry—including housekeepers, front desk personnel, and office staff.

What makes this program different? Applicants won’t need to go through an agency. Instead, the process will be handled directly by the DMW, ensuring transparency and protecting job seekers from unnecessary costs.

Still, the agency warned Filipinos to be patient and wait for the official announcement. They reminded the public to stay vigilant and never entertain offers from illegal recruiters.

Opportunities Beyond Croatia

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manila also held a massive job fair on National Heroes Day. Employers from countries like Japan, Norway, Lithuania, Saudi Arabia, and Ireland joined the event, offering thousands of overseas job opportunities.

Japan, in particular, is seeking drivers, welders, and farmers, with salaries ranging from ₱70,000 to ₱90,000 per month. Even better, employers will shoulder the cost of accommodation and food.

For those interested in Japan, the TESDA Language Institute is offering language courses to help applicants prepare.

Jobs at Home Still Growing

As the “ber” months approach, demand for local jobs is also rising. Companies are now actively hiring for positions such as store crew, sales representatives, and housekeeping staff.

Applicants can submit their applications through local employment offices, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) website, or other official platforms.

The DMW once again cautioned the public: never trust job ads circulating on social media or messaging apps. Always verify if the company offering the job is licensed and if the job order is legitimate.
