Tropical Storm Leon Gets Stronger Over Philippine Sea

Tropical Storm Leon has intensified over the Philippine Sea, causing scattered rains and thunderstorms in Catanduanes, according to Pagasa on Sunday.

Leon is about 1,000 kilometers east of Central Luzon, moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour. The storm has winds reaching 75 kph near its center, with gusts up to 90 kph.

Pagasa said Signal No. 1 might be raised in parts of Cagayan Valley and the northeastern Bicol Region by Sunday night or Monday. As Leon moves north-northwest, it could bring rain to extreme Northern Luzon and may continue to impact the southwest wind flow across Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Southern Luzon due to the earlier influence of Tropical Storm Kristine.
