Zelenskiy Demands Allies Unite to Force Russia’s Regime Change

A terrible thing happened in Ukraine. A Russian missile and drone attack hit the capital city Kyiv while people were sleeping. It destroyed a big 9-storey apartment building, hurt many, and killed 8 people, including a 6-year-old boy. 😢

Because of this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is now asking the world to help push for a “regime change” in Russia—which means he wants the current Russian government, led by Vladimir Putin, to be removed.

A City in Ruins, a Country in Grief

The attack happened overnight. Russia launched over 300 drones and eight missiles at Ukraine, with Kyiv as the main target.

One of those missiles smashed through a tall apartment building. Part of the building collapsed, and rescuers were seen digging through the rubble, trying to save anyone trapped underneath. There were clothes, toys, and broken furniture scattered everywhere. 🧸🧺💔

A young boy, just 6 years old, was found hurt. He was rushed to the hospital—but he didn’t make it. He died in the ambulance. 💔

Zelenskiy Speaks Out: “If Russia Isn’t Changed, It Will Never Stop”

After the attack, President Zelenskiy spoke at a big international meeting. He said:

“If the world doesn’t work together to change the Russian government, even after this war ends, Russia will just keep causing trouble in other countries.”

Zelenskiy believes this war won’t really end unless the world pushes to stop Putin’s government from holding power.

A Key Town Falls—But Ukraine Disagrees

On the same day as the missile strikes, Russia claimed it had taken control of a town called Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine. This town is very important for military strategy—it sits on a hill and connects to other cities.

But Ukraine said, “That’s a lie.”

“They didn’t take the town,” said a Ukrainian army spokesperson.

If Russia really does take Chasiv Yar, it could help them attack other big cities nearby, like Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, where many people still live.

Tensions With the U.S. Are Heating Up

All this happened just days after U.S. President Donald Trump gave Putin a 10-day deadline to stop the war—or face even tougher punishments.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister added:

“President Trump has been patient. But now, it’s time to make Putin feel the pain of his actions.”

Russia Quiet, But Still Dangerous

Russia hasn’t commented yet on Zelenskiy’s call for regime change, or on the attack that killed the 6-year-old boy.
But President Putin, on his side, has said he wants Zelenskiy removed too—and doesn’t think he should still be president.

Corruption Crisis Back Home—Zelenskiy Reverses Course

Before all of this, Zelenskiy was already facing big problems inside his own government. A law had been passed that gave the president more control over anti-corruption agencies—which made people very angry.

Protesters came out, saying it would let powerful people hide corruption.

Zelenskiy first signed the law, but then quickly asked the lawmakers to cancel it. They did. 331 lawmakers voted to change it back, fixing the damage. The European Union praised the move, saying it was important for Ukraine to stay clean if it wants to join the EU someday.

The War Isn’t Over—And the Stakes Are Rising

With kids dying, cities in ruins, and governments calling each other out, this war is getting even more serious. Zelenskiy says the world must act before it’s too late.

Will other countries push for change in Russia? Or will the fighting go on?
